Plastic Mode

"Mi Amor"  by Plastic Mode is the perfect song for a perfect day. Spring is so close and this Plastic Mode track beckons for more warm, clear days. You may be familiar with Plastic Mode's "Baja Imperial." It was re-released on Morgan Geist's Unclassics compilation. Both of these tracks are stellar. Tony Carrasco has his hands on "Mi Amor" in addition to Mariano Boncaldo and Angelo Valsiglio. Both songs appeared on their EP "Plastic Mode."

Duke of Burlington - Flash '83

Mario Battaini (aka The Duke of Burlington) cut an updated version of his 1969 funk classic in 1983 for Proto Records with this version of Flash. The original is a rare groove classic that would drive any rare soul collector madcap with excitement.

Fourteen years later the Duke of Burlington updated Flash with a fresh new look for the 1980s. With Tony Carrasco (see previous post) behind the boards it was done properly for the new era. The groove and changes remained but the addition of well arranged arpeggios and synthesizers allowed for a tasteful redux of a soulful classic.

Tony Carrasco, Miko Mission and More

Tony Carrasco is a well establish dance producer who made a name for himself in the Italo Disco scene in the 1980s and is still busy making tracks today. A New York native who spent a lot of time in Italy he has been around since the final days of disco. Among his most memorable tracks include Miko Mission's greatest hits "How Old Are You?" and "The World is You," Klein & MBO's "Dirty Talk" and more. He also produced another one of my favorites "Call Me Mr. Telephone" which was first recorded by Answering Service in 1984 but later made famous by West-Indian singer Cheyne in 1985.
